The warning is to be in effect from 11 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday. The most vulnerable areas are higher elevations in Napa County and the eastern hills of Sonoma County, officials said. The areas are expected to see above-average temperatures and northeast gusts of wind as strong as 40 mph.

Each fire is burning a half-acre to an acre of grass and firefighters are currently responding. Video footage shows golden grass hills burning off Ygnacio Valley Road on the border of Concord and Walnut Creek. Firetrucks have been stationed near homes close to the fire, but evacuations have not been ordered, said Steve Aubert, a spokesperson for the fire district. One person was killed early Wednesday in a two-car crash that caused them to be ejected from their vehicle on Highway 24 in Oakland, authorities said. The collision occurred just before 5:30 a.m. near the Broadway on-ramp on the westbound lanes of Highway 24, according to the California Highway Patrol. Three westbound lanes were shut down as emergency crews responded to the scene. One westbound lane was open during the early morning commute. A silver Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into the center divider and then into a white Honda, authorities said. The court's conservatives said a California law likely violates the First Amendment. It required what are called crisis pregnancy centers - they promise prenatal care and help when the child is born - to post notices or tell clients about the state's service. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the 5 to 4 decision. He said that the "government-drafted script" specifically mentions abortion - "the very practice that petitioners are devoted to opposing.

On a Sunday morning that was too hot for leather, the chaps were out in force anyway, as the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Rally prepared to make its 48th consecutive annual march up Market Street. Some 50,000 marchers were expected, along with 100,000 onlookers, making Pride the largest event in California, according to Digital Third Coast, which ranks events in every state according to crowd size. The Pride parade runs from the Embarcadero to the Civic Center, and is kicked off by Dykes on Bikes revving their motorcycles to rattle windows in the Financial District canyon. Before the 10:30 a.m. send-off, the bikes were all quiet at the start point, Market and Beale.

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — President Donald Trump's reversal of a policy separating migrant families at the Mexico border sparked confusion over how the new guidelines will play out and deep concern that the changes don't go far enough, allowing children to still be held in detention even if they remain with their families. "We are pleased that the president is calling a halt to his inhumane and heartless policy of separating parents from their children," said Peter Schey, the lawyer in a lawsuit that resulted in a key agreement governing the treatment of migrant children in detention called the Flores settlement.

Members of the United Methodist Church from across the country signed a letter Monday accusing Sessions of child abuse, immorality and racial discrimination. They also chided Sessions for using biblical scripture to defend the policy, saying it runs counter to the church's doctrine. Sessions also was blasted in a separate letter signed by 75 former U.S. attorneys from both parties, who want Sessions to end the family separation policy at the border.

Corey Lewandowski was back on Fox News Wednesday to vigorously defend his “womp womp” reaction to news that a 10-year-old child with Down Syndrome had been separated from her parents at the U.S. border as part of the Trump administration’s zero tolerance policy for immigrants entering the country without paperwork. The former Trump campaign manager insisted that he was only mocking Democratic operative Zac Petkanas, who had raised the example of the girl, and that everyone was politicizing the issue.
