An out-of-control fire burning along Highway 16 in Yolo County doubled in size overnight as dangerous weather conditions persisted in much of Northern California, officials said Sunday. The County Fire reached 16,500 acres after igniting around 2:15 p.m. Saturday north of Lake Berryessa, near Guinda, a community of about 250 people, according to Cal Fire, the state’s firefighting agency. Mandatory evacuations were in place for residents between County Road 63 and County Road 76, west of Highway 16, as well as the Murphy Ranch area. An evacuation center was open at Rumsey Grange Hall.
