BART delays after Lake Merritt station closed
Published on July 25, 2019 at 06:15AM by Dianne de Guzman, SFGATE

BART lines are seeing delays Wednesday afternoon after a "major medical emergency" is forcing a closure of the Lake Merritt station.

The transit agency alerted riders to the closure via social media about 5:36 p.m., stating there are delays in the Dublin/Pleasanton, Warm Springs, Richmond and Daly City directions.

AC Transit will apparently be available for riders, according to the tweet.

There is no estimated time of reopening for the station currently, and no indication as to the medical situation happening at the station.

This story is developing and we will update as more information becomes available.

SFGATE: The story behind the 'T' sign Giants players have been flashing

The story behind the 'T' sign Giants players have been flashing
Published on July 23, 2019 at 09:59PM by Mike Moffitt, SFGATE

Remember Barry Bonds' signature two-finger, point-to-the-sky gesture that always followed one of his mammoth home runs? Well, the Giants are flashing signs again after big hits, which have come in bunches during their torrid July winning streak.

SFGATE: Giants outfielder plays Super Smash Bros on scoreboard

Giants outfielder plays Super Smash Bros on scoreboard

San Francisco Giants outfielder Alex Dickerson was again held out of the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Cubs, after sitting Sunday with back issues. He certainly made the most of his time on the shelf, though.

SFGATE: A look back at MadBum's most insane anecdotes

A look back at MadBum's most insane anecdotes
Published on July 24, 2019 at 05:20AM by Grant Marek, SFGATE

Flip through the slideshow above for a look back at the most insane MadBum anecdotes in his 11-year Giants career.

Trade speculation has been swirling around Madison Bumgarner for weeks now. And while the Giants' ace was expected to bring in quite the haul in a likely sellers market, San Francisco suddenly being thrust into the wildcard race has, well, complicated things.

Bumgarner reports have ranged from the Giants already tried to trade him to they definitely didn't already try to trade him to it's impossible to say if he'll be traded to there's no way the Giants can trade him.

If the Giants do deal the former World Series MVP, Tuesday's 6:45 p.m. game against the Cubs would most likely be his final start in a San Francisco uniform.

MORE GIANTS: Alex Dickerson plays Super Smash Bros on Oracle Park's $10 million scoreboard

Which would be a huge loss not just for the ball club, but also for local headline writers.

In his 11-year career in the orange and black, Bumgarner has been as successful (three World Series titles, one World Series MVP, one NLCS MVP, four All-Star appearances) as he has been downright enigmatic.
